If you follow our blog, or any of our social media accounts, you already know that the wedding of Lex + Kate means a whole hell of a lot to us. It was the first same-sex marriage we have photographed, but it was so much more than that. This wedding, and more importantly this marriage, is so full of love and happiness. I know, I know we say that about every wedding and honestly it’s always true but this wedding just felt different. Everyone in attendance seemed so THRILLED to be there, including us. We laughed when the bridesmaids got crazy (you’ll see); we cried when Lex teared up watching Kate come down the aisle, and we cheered during the most amazing choreographed first dance we have ever witnessed. This wedding changed us. Our presence there was bigger than just doing a job. We were part of something special and extremely privileged to be the ones selected to document the makings of this family.
Ok enough about us, gosh. Lex + Kate are truly amazing humans. They live in LA and do awesome creative starving artist (for now) type things. They brought their vision to their wedding and it was absolutely a one of a kind event. Every single thing about this wedding had their stamp on it.
They were married at the Brown Mountain Beach Resort and spent the morning getting ready in tiny cabins. I’m going to shut up now and let you experience #4TheLoveOfShugar
Lex and Kate both wore Oxford shoes. #RelationshipGoals
Lauren was on “Lex Watch.” Ain’t nobody coming near the door when there is this much attitude in the way 😉
Kate OWNS the camera. We just melt into a drippy puddle looking at how beautiful she is and yet, these photos do not do her justice in the least.
We caught a few quiet moments with Lex before the ceremony. This was her least expressive face and yet it’s still so deep. Her vintage style was completed by the socks she bought, still in their original 1950’s packaging.
They opted for a “No Look” First look. They stood around the corner of this old stone cabin, holding hands, and talking before their ceremony. It was such a sweet interaction and they hated to let go. Lex said her heart was pounding as she heard Kate approaching.
That moment you first see your wife-to-be and it’s all you can do to keep it together.
They even wrote their own vows. Swoon city.
We will never stop talking about the time that this happened. #MakeAmericaGreatAgain
This photo just might be my favorite photo from the whole day. This embrace was so real, and Kate’s smile is infectious.
Photographer’s dream come true. Lex + Kate deserve a medal: they gave us A WHOLE HOUR for portraits!
Remember that awesome choreographed first dance I told you about?! Also I mentioned all the expressions Lex gives so freely. We have come to know (and love) them as ‘The many faces of Lex.’
Bad. Ass.
No banks were robbed in the process of this photo.
And they ended the night looking even more in love than when they said their “I Do’s”
They also shared a beer with us at the very end of the night before heading to their Honeymoon Cabin. Lex + Kate thank you, from the bottom of hearts for showing us your true selves. You are wonderful people and we are so happy to call you friends. Your marriage serves as inspiration to our marriage and our business. We wish you an eternity of joy together.
